Teppotsavam is also called as "The boat
festival" or "The Float Festival". The deity is taken for a
ride on a boat decorated with flowers and lighting. It is celebrated in
many important pilgrim places like
Tirupati ,
Dharmapuri, Vijayawada,
Kanakadurga
temple etc. Devotees congregate in large numbers to watch this
Utsavam.
Tirupati Teppotsavam
In Tirupati Teppotsavam is celebrated once in a year for five days in the
month of February- March. In Vijayawada Teppotsavam is celebrated on the
final day of Navarathrulu, when the goddess 'Kanakadurga' is taken for a
ride on the waters of river Krishna in the "Hamasa Vahana" (a
boat).
In Dharmapuri Teppotsavam of Yoga Narasihmaswami is performed as a part
of the Brahmotsavam celebrations. The Teppotsavam held in the honour of
Venkateswaraswamy is a great local event in Sekur of
Guntur District.
