In
Andhra Pradesh festivals are celebrated
with pomp and splendour as they bring to life, the fervour of the people
of the State and those from other places visiting the state. Hindu
festivals such as Dusshera, Deepavali, Rama Navami, Vinayaka Chavithi
(Ganesh Chaturthi) and Maha Shivaratri are celebrated in the State.
Similarly, Muslim festivals such as
Bakrid and Ramzan and
Christian festivals like
Christmas and New
Year's Day are also celebrated with gaiety. In Andhra Pradesh Ugadi
(Telugu New Year's day),
Sankranti,
Dasera (Dusshera), and Vinayaka Chavithi are celebrated on a grand scale
and they serve as a refreshing break from the monotonous routines of the
locals. Apart from the generally common festivals that are celebrated
here, there are many more that are unfamiliar.
