Located in the centre of the Hussain Sagar
Lake in Hyderabad
is the Buddha statue, which is 16m high, 350 tonne, and monolithic statue,
placed on the Rock of Gibraltar. It has been hewn from a hill rock at
Raigir in Nalgonda district of
Andhra pradesh.
It
is the largest monolithic statue in Asia. Made of white granite, it is
finely sculptured and stands majestically amidst the shimmering waters of
the lake. Standing alone and spreading an aura of peace, the Buddha Statue
is a major attraction to south Asians who come to visit Buddhist sites.
