Cumbum lies 34-km to the north of Giddalur,
Kurnool district. The most
important place of interest in this village is the large tank constructed
during the rule of the Vijayanagar Kings.
The tank covers water spread of 23-sq-kms and a registered layout of
2,835 hectares, although it actually irrigates about 4,860 hectares in
sixteen villages of Cumbum Firka. This artificial lake surrounded by
picturesque hills contains several rocky islets and affords beautiful
scenery and is an ideal spot for picnics.
Rail: Cumbum has a railway station
on the Hubli-Machilipatnam
line.
Road: Cumbum is connected by bus with
Ongole, Kurnool, Nandyal and
Guntur.
