Bhimavaram in West Godavari district of
Andhra Pradesh has several temples. Of
these, 'Bhimesvara' and 'Somesvara' temple are the most important. The
Shiva Lingam in the temple of Bhimesvara is said to be a "Svayambhu"
(self-manifested).
On one of the pillars of the mantapam, there are some letters inscribed in
'Pali' language. The Shiva Lingam in Gunupudi Somesvara temple, which is
5ft (1.52m) in height, is also said to be a Svayambhu. The festival of
Shivaratri celebrated here is attended by about 50,000 thousand devotees.

Road: Bhimavaram is also connected by road with
Eluru, Gudivada, Narsapur,
Vijayawada and
Hyderabad .
