Anupu is located 4-km from Nagrajuna Sagar. It is one of the famous Buddhist Relics of Andhra Pradesh. The ruins of an ancient Buddhist university were excavated during the construction of the Nagarjunasagar dam- world's largest masonry dam. These ruins have been carefully reconstructed at Anupu, on the east bank of the reservoir, a feat similar to the 'Abu Simbel' effort in Egypt in Anupu.
