Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Corporation operates regular
bus-services to various places in Arunachal Pradesh and its neighbouring
states. Direct bus-services are there from North Lakhimpur to
Itanagar via Naharlagun. Buses
run frequently between Naharlagun & Itanagar between 6.00 am - 7.00
pm. Private coach operators viz. also operate their services in different
routes touching Itanagar.
A visit to the state can be divided into two distinct parts: the
Bomdila-Sela-Tawang region and the other regions. To visit the Bomdila
side one need not go to Itanagar.
It is better to make Tezpur the starting point and take a direct bus,
which takes 7 hrs, going via Bhalukpong/Tipi and Tenga Valley/Rupa.
Tawang has bus services from Bomdila and the
journey takes about 10 hrs.
Local transport: A very few number tourist taxi and auto are
available for moving around purposes. Tourist deluxe buses for group
tourist can be hired from the Director, Department of Tourism, Government
of Arunachal Pradesh, Naharlagun. A few
other transport agencies in town rent out tourist cars and coaches. Cycle
rickshaws are the most common local transport in Naharlagun.
