The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport of Guwahati is well connected by air with the four major metropolitans New Delhi , Kolkatta (or Calcutta), Mumbai and Chennai . All the major airlines operate regular flights to Guwahati as well as to the other important towns in the state namely Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, North Lakhimpur and Silchar.

Rail

Guwahati is the headquarters of the North-Western Frontier Railway and hence well connected with other parts of the country. Train services from broad and metre-gauge to and from other parts of Assam and other states, originate or pass through Guwahati. There are regular train services from the major cities of Kolkatta (or Calcutta), New Delhi, Mumbai , Chennai , Bangalore , Kochi (or Cochin) and Thiruvanathapuram (or Trivandrum). B.G. line connection is upto Dibrugarh and M.G. line with Haflong and Silchar.

Road

A network of National Highways and other roads connect all-important places of Assam. All the towns of Assam are well connected by the Assam State Transport Corporation and other tourist bus services. These buses also ply to the capitals of the neighbouring states.
