The
Kingfisher Complex, constructed in a 9-acre stretch, was opened to the
public in the year 1987. Built on the junction of Delhi - Amritsar and
Chandigarh- Ambala Highway, the complex began catering to both the highway
travellers and the domestic tourists of this ancient town.
Ambala Cantonment came to be established in 1843 AD, when the British
Garrison shifted from Karnal to avoid malaria. But the town of Ambala was
built in the 14th century by one Amba Rajput. Another belief is that the
town derives its name from the presence of Bhawani Amba temple that still
exists here. However, no historic document about the town by this name has
been unearthed so far. Today, Ambala is famous for its scientific
instruments.
The special attraction at kingfisher is a health club with swimming pool,
massage and exercise machines. This complex is built on a double storeyed
plan. It opens to a central courtyard with well-decorated interiors.
Facilities: Motel, restaurant, bar, conference room, health club
with swimming pool, exercise gadgets, ice cream parlour, gift shops,
coffee shop, lawns for gatherings.
