Dham Yatri Niwas came up in a 2 acre area in 1988 with the express view to
cater to pilgrim travellers. It opened with lockers for luggage, dormitory
and very simple but delicious vegetarian food for pilgrims.
Kurukshetra with its 360 places of pilgrimage is one of the holiest centres of the Hindus. It is revered for Jyotisar- the site that marks the place where Lord Krishna delivered the Bhagwad Gita Updesh. It is also the holy land where the battle of Right over Wrong was won by the Pandavas. It is made further holy by the supreme sacrifice of king Kuru and the many holy centres sanctified by legends, heroic figures and mythology. Today, Kurukshetra is made holy by the presence of the Brahma Sarovar, Sannihit Sarovar, Jyotisar, Sthaneswar Mahadev temple and Birla Gita Mandir. Gita Jayanti celebrations is a very popular event held in winter.
