One of the oldest and the most important temples of Shirigul
are situated on the Chur Dhar Peak.
THE LEGEND OF SHIRIGUL TEMPLE
According to another belief Shirigul happened to be a staunch devotee of
Shiva. He desired to have a temple of his own at Chur peak. To achieve
this he caused a disease amongst the young boys of the vicinity and
declared that the disease could be cured if a temple is built for him over
Chur Peak. Thereafter the temple was built for him.
As to the construction of the temple, one comes across an interesting
legend connected with the Muslim emperor of
Delhi who played a most
deceptive and undignified role in the related episode.
