Commissioned in 1929, with the primary purpose of connecting the broad-gauge railhead at Pathankot to the Shanon Power Works at Jogindernagar, the line is wonderful way of sampling Kangra's beauty. It feeds most of the major places of the major places of in Kangra. And one of the finest stretches of track is along the waters of the Maharana Pratap Sagar with the Dhauladhar Mountains.
