Just
like any other state of India, Dances are an integral part of any ceremony
or festive occasion in Jammu and Kashmir. While the
dances in Ladakh have
got a total Tibetan Buddhism flavour in it, it's the Masks that one should
basically watch out for. And the drum beats, the instruments that
accompany the dance steps also present a charming musical background. The
Dogri dances are performed according to the significance of a particular
occasion such as the at the advent of Spring season or harvest time or
during wedding ceremonies. In Kashmir there isn't any tradition of mixed
community dances by men and women, still dances are most common way to
celebrate any occasional get together or festival in the valley.
