Festivals
provide somewhat a very peculiar kind of cultural aspect Jammu
and Kashmir's endless varsities.
Ladakh has majority
of monastic festivals, one thing that explains why this land is where the
Buddha keeps returning. Most of the great religious festivals of Ladakh
fall in winter. The major exception is the Hemis festival, the biggest of
them all. In addition to the monastic festivals practically all the
villages have harvest thanksgiving festivals and Archery events during
summer. The two biggest festivities of Jammu
include Lohri, which marks the culmination of winters and Baisakhi, also
known as the harvest festival.
