Majority
of the Sikh community resides in the Jammu region
and the most famous gurdwara is the Nangli Sahib Gurdwara. Visited by
thousands of pilgrim every year this gurdwara was said to be built by Sant
Bhai Mela Singh when he was on his way to conquer Kashmir. Another famous
gurdwara is in the Kashmir region, Chatti Padshahi Gurdwara, dedicated to
the sixth guru of Sikhism, who came to Kashmir and preached his sermons.
