Located
at the foot of the Karakoram, Ladakh is the ideal location for a large
number of glaciers that in turn give rise to a number of rivers draining
the region. In this region, rivers originate from the Trans Himalayan
sector, such as the Indus, which flow through the region and cut their way
through the main Himalayan range before reaching the plains.
