The city of Ranchi is huddled picturesquely in the heart of
Chhotanagpur plateau, with beautiful
waterfalls strewn all over the place in exuberance, Johna falls being one
of the most scenic ones. Johna falls are 34 kms away from Ranchi, on the
Ranchi-Puruliya Road.
These falls are also called as Gautamdhara named so after the
name of Lord Gautam Budhha. There is also a tourist rest house that
accommodates the temple of Lord Budhha.
Providing mesmerising solitude from the maddening crowds, one is
stupefied and enthralled by the rich flora and fauna beside the Kanchi
River. The scenery around it is very spectacular and it is a popular
picnic spot. In order to truly appreciate the astounding splendour of the
fall, one must descend 500 pared steps.
The Johna Falls are approachable by road, which is a bit narrow. The
tourists can go up to Gautamdhara station, by train also.
