A small peaceful town situated 17 kms from Moodabidri,
Karkala is a very famous pilgrim centre known for its massive monolith of
Gomateshwara, which is thronged by pilgrims from across the country as
well.
Karkala is a centre of effervescent activity where dexterity and
commitment combine to take an unusual form. One can see young zealous
sculptors engraving beautiful figures and bringing stones to life.

Moodabidri, which has the renowned 100-pillared Jain shrine.

Jamalabad Fort:
Jamalabad is famous for its fort built by the tiger of
Mysore, Tipu Sultan in 1794. The fort
was renamed after his mother, Jamalbee.

Chaturmukha Basti: It also has a huge Chaturmukha Basti. In recent
years Renjal Gopal Shenoy, the famous sculptor, has left behind a living
tradition of the art of engraving. Statues made here are appreciated the
world over and exported to Japan.
