Karnataka has a long coastline and hence along
with other motored means of transport, it has a well-developed water
transportation system.
The state is very well linked to the neighbouring states and each city is
connected to other by air, rail and road transport. Karnataka State
Tourist Development Corporation (KSTDC) maintains a fleet of buses and
also cars. The number of yellow tops is limited to the cities.
The city bus service is efficient and economical, but is usable only
during non-peak hours. The other common modes of transportation in the
city are the metered auto-rickshaws and tourist taxis.
