Situated at a height of 5,091 feet, this
resort is a must for wildlife lovers.Dancing trees, whistling winds and
swirling streams form a backdrop to some very rare animal. Spread over an
area of 540 sq. kms, the sanctuary is home to many species of wild
animals.
The Wild Population
The sanctuary is teeming with varied flora and fauna. Gaurs, chitals,
sambhars, bears, elephants, panthers and tigers inhabit the place in large
numbers.

Biligiriangaswamy Temple (from which the hill derives its name) is the
right place.
The serene surrounding, the soft reverberation of the bells and the songs
of the bird in the background at the complex are sure to rejuvenate your
souls.
You may also find the Soligas, native tribes of this range, singing a
sprightly folk song or dancing to a brisk tune.
Rath Festival:
While on your visit, Make sure you do not miss the Ratha festival held
during 'Vaishaka' in the month of April.
