The village of Mandwa captures the visitor's heart with its
overwhelming serene atmosphere. Few kilometres from Mandwa one can find
Kihim beach, which is the ideal choice to spend sometime away from the
crowd and pollution. It is situated 120-km away from
Mumbai .
Kihim
is a remote and unspoilt beach covered with dense coconut trees. This
beach is a virtual treasure - trove for the avid nature - lover with deep
woods, wild, and rare flowers, equally uncommon species of butterflies and
a variety of birds. A tent holiday at Kihim is perfect, with stretches of
soft, white sand and sparkling surf.
Just few miles away from the shore there is a fort called Kolaba Fort, which is worth visiting. Tourists can spot Portuguese ruins, Buddhist caves, the Hamam Khana, a church, a temple and even a synagogue 15-km away from Alibagh at Chaul.
