The Mahalaxmi /Mahalakshmi temple at Kolhapur
is an exquisitely carved temple and draws millions of pilgrims from all
over India. Kiran Utsav is one among the many festivals celebrated here.
The rays of the setting sun, bow at the feet of the goddess through a
window for a while before vanishing, a wonder of the wise architects who
built the temple.
This special event is celebrated by thousands of devotees as
'KiranUtsav'. This festival is celebrated at evenings on 31st January, 1st
February, 2nd February and on the 9th, 10th, and 11th November every year.
