The Pune festival held in the months of August-September during Ganesh Mahotsav is the biggest festival in the city of Pune . Beginning on the day of the installation of idols of Lord Ganesha it goes on till the immersion of the Lord's idols on the tenth day.
Pune festival is a celebration of art and culture, song and
dance, custom and tradition. Originally started as a localised cultural
event, this festival has over the years gained national and international
stature and evolved into one of India's landmark cultural happenings. The
MTDC (Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation) organises this festival
and has been actively promoted abroad by the government of India, as a
major tourist attraction.
