The area north of Colaba is known as Mumbai Fort, since the
old British fort was once located here. There are a lot of impressive
buildings from Mumbai's golden period here.
Among the many striking buildings in the fort area, the St. Johns Church
is worth a visit. This church is dedicated to the soldiers who laid down
their lives in the Sindh campaign of 1838 and the first Afghan war of
1843.
This lively area is the established commercial centre of
Mumbai , and it's
jam-packed with commuters, street stalls and the grand facades of 19th
century British institutions and trading houses.
Mumbai being the capital city is well connected by air, rail and road with all the important places within and beyond the state. For local transportation, city buses, local trains, and taxis are available.
Accommodation is available at the hotels in Mumbai.
