Natya Sangeet is semi classical style of music commonly
called as Stage Music. The tune is a charming confluence of deep classical
strains and old-style musical patterns with frequent speed changes,
background instrumentation completely in sync with the vocals.
Narayanrao Rajhauns or Bal Gandharava as he is popularly known is the
master of Natyasangeet, and it is said that an entire genre of Natya
Sangeet rooted in Hindustani classical music developed under him. The
emergence and flourish of Marathi musical theatre is largely indebted to
this maestro.
