Nawegaon Khairi is a dam site situated in Parseoni range
forest. It is suited to be a good spot for picnic point of view. The area
is surrounded by thick forest on three sides.
Nawegaon is also a popular forest resort, and an adventure spot. It was
said built by Kolu Patel Kolhi in the beginning of the 18th century.
There's a picturesque lake set in the middle of hill ranges with
watchtowers that enable you to view wildlife.
Make sure to visit the deer part, the Dr Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, the
three beautiful gardens and the children's park. Almost 60% of the bird
species found in Maharashtra have been recorded in
Nawegaon. Every winter, huge flocks of migratory ducks visit the lake.
Sign up for MTDC's jungle safari and you may see the leopard, sloth bear,
gaur, sambar, chital or the langur.
Rail: Nearest railhead is Devalgaon 1-km on South
Eastern Railway.
Road: State Transport buses ply from Bhandara,
Nagpur and Devalgaon to Nawegaon.
There is accommodation facility available at the forest
guesthouse in Nawegaon.
