The town of Harihareshwar is located 25-km form Shri Vardhan in Raigad district of Maharashtra State. It is one of the finest places in Konkan, just 130-km from Pune . It is known for Kalbhairav-the Shivaa Temple and also for tranquil and picturesque beach. Harihareshwar is known as Kashi of Southern India. Harihareshwar is also known as 'Harihar' or 'Pushpadri'. The atmosphere here is very auspicious and creates pleasure.
The temple is situated on the seashore. It's an old temple and the construction period of this temple cannot be easily said. The temple might be constructed in Shivaaji's Period as one can find such sculptures. The temple attracts large number of devotees. It was re-constructed by First Bajirao Peshawa in 1723.
The temple consists of idols of Brahma - Vishnu - Mahesh and Devi Parvati. The other temples in the premises are of Shri Kalbhairav and Shri Yogeshwari.
The beach is a marvellous place with its soft sands, clean waters and brilliant sunshine. About 4-km away there is a 'Peshwa' Smarak and Bankot Fort at Bagmandala, which is also worth visiting.
