haven for nature lovers - Maharashtra is home to large
number of animal and bird species including the Tiger, Crocodile, Bison,
Gawa, Neelgai, Wild deer, Sambar and rare migratory birds. Melghat, in the
Amravati district is a tiger reserve. Another
wildlife sanctuary, which is known for its verdant hills and dales, where
the fauna offers a mesmerizing blaze of colours, is the Nagzira Wildlife
Sanctuary. The Navegaon National Park located in Navegoan; Gondia is one
of the most popular forest resorts in the Vidarbha region. The Tadoba
National Park also located in the Vidarbha region is a haven for wildlife
enthusiasts and is referred to as 'The Jewel of Vidarbha'. The Sanjay
Gandhi National Park is a tree lover's delight at all times of the year,
with every changing season offering up its own distinctive beauty. The
other famous sanctuaries in Maharashtra are the Karnala Bird Sanctuary,
Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary, Nayagaon Mayur Sanctuary, Chikhaldara
Wildlife Sanctuary and so on. These parks offer splendid opportunities to
see a wide variety of wildlife in the spectacular natural setting.
