The Phasand wildlife sanctuary is located in Murud and Roha Talukas of Raigad district in Konkan region, covering an area of 53-sq-km. The sanctuary represents a Coastal Woodland Ecosystem of Western Ghats, which makes the habitat very rich and offers highly peaceful atmosphere to the visitors.
The sanctuary hosts atleast 21 species of endemic plants such as Clitoria Biflora, Balevia Gibsoni, Ramphicapa Longifolia etc. The ethnobotany of the sanctuary is represented by about 91 plant species. Tourists can also spot number of medicinal plant species in this area
The wild animals found in this sanctuary are Panther,
Sambhar, Wild boar, Barking deer, Hyena etc.
The famous Janjira Fort located in the sea is a special attraction. Tourists can take trekking through a nature trail located at Supegaon. Nature Interpretation Centre at Majgaon and palace of Nawab of Murud are also the places of attraction to the visitors.
