The journey of a lifetime begins at the Delhi Cantonment station where
the guests are accorded a warm, traditional welcome before the
Palace-on-Wheels pulls out into the night for a week long luxury cruise
through fascinating Rajasthan.
DAY-2 THURSDAY
Arrival - 2.00 hrs. Departure - 19.15 hrs.
JAIPUR
The first stop on the Palace-on-Wheels is
Jaipur, the
capital city of Rajasthan popularly known as the Pink City, founded by
Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, in 1727 AD.
An
air-conditioned coach takes you explore Jaipur's prime attractions
including
Hawa
Mahal or the Palace of Winds, a remarkable five-storeyed building
along the main street of the old city; a visit to
Amber
Fort with elephant rides in tow and a Shopping trip to Jaipur's
famous jewellery and handicraft centers. After lunch at a Palace Hotel,
you are off to the
City
Palace, and the largest observatory -
Jantar
Mantar. The luxury coaches will take you back to Palace On Wheels
around 6.30 pm. Dinner on Board.
DAY-3 FRIDAY
Arrival - 8.15 hrs. Departure - 23.00 hrs.
JAISALMER
Lying in the heart of the
Thar
Desert, Jaisalmer
is the second stopover of our train journey. Among the main attractions of
this desert city is the yellow sandstone fort and grand facades of the
Havelis or grand mansions. After lunch on board, go for an exciting camel
ride on the sand dunes of Sam, before teatime. Enjoy the dinner and the
cultural programmes at a hotel in Jaisalmer. The train leaves for
Jodhpur at
night.
DAY-4 SATURDAY
Arrival - 7.00 hrs. Departure - 15.30 hrs.
JODHPUR
Welcome to the Blue city of Jodhpur known for its rock-solid
Mehrangarh
Fort. While visiting the fort do check out the grand palaces within
the fort and their impressive architectural grandeur. Near the complex is
Jaswant Thada, and a group of royal cenotaphs made of white marble.
DAY-5 SUNDAY
Arrival - 4.00 hrs. Departure - 10.30 hrs.
SAWAI MADHOPUR
Welcome to the forested place of
Sawai
Madhopur and the beautiful 10th century fort of
Ranthambore,
surrounded by the
Ranthambore
National Park with a Project Tiger Reserve in it. This wildlife
sanctuary is considered to be the country's best for observing and
photographing the activities of the tiger.
DAY-5 SUNDAY

CHITTAURGARH
Images of love and valour of Maharana Pratap, scars of battles lost and
won, that's Chittaurgarh
for you.
DAY-6 MONDAY
Departure - 18.30 hrs from Chittaurgarh
UDAIPUR
Nest Morning, a luxury coach will take you to
Udaipur,
the lake city. Perhaps the two most beautiful sites over here are the
dream like marble palaces - the Jag Niwas (lake Palace) and the Jag
Mandir. After lunch at Lake Palace Hotel, a visit to the City Palace is
exhilarating. After evening tea, the luxury coach take you back to the
Palace on Wheels at
Chittaurgarh.
DAY-7 TUESDAY
Arrival - 5.00 hrs. Departure - 11.00 hrs.
AGRA
Early next morning, the Palace arrives at Agra, Fatehpur Sikri - the red
sandstone Mughal palatial complex. After lunch move on from the Red Fort
and arrive at the Taj Mahal, the symbol of eternal love.
BHARATPUR -
Arrival - 13.30 hrs. Departure 23.00 hrs.
Bharatpur is a wonderland of birds having the popular
Keoladeo
Ghana National Park, the nesting place of 300 species of Siberian
and Chinese migratory birds.
After Dinner on board and good night's sleep, arrive at Delhi Cantt. 0630
hrs the next morning and let the pleasant memories of the ethereal
journey, closeted in your heart! Get aboard the palace on wheels amidst a
traditionally ceremonial welcome, accorded by colourfully attired men and
women, at the Delhi Cantonment Railway Station, from where the journey
begins.
