SHIMLA'S HIGHEST
At 2455m, Jakhu (also spelt as Jakhoo) hill towers over Shimla. Replete
with history and architectural charm, there are several houses along its
steep.1.5-km climb that starts; from the Ridge. The forested hill is
crowned by a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Sunrises and sunsets
witnessed from this vantage spot area spectacular enough to over come a
lifelong memory especially during the monsoons. One of the landmark houses
on the climb is Rothney Castle, once home to the known ornithologist and
founder of the Indian National Congress, A. O. Hume.
