KANCHENDZONGA NATIONAL PARK
This
is the largest park of Sikkim, area 850-sq-km is bounded in north by tent
peak and ridge of the Zemu glacier in the east by the ridge of mountain
Lamo Angden; Mt. Narsing and Mt. Pandim in south, and mighty
Kanchenjunga and few peaks of
Nepal in the west. Because of its formidable location, it remained
ecologically untouched, which provided, natural protection to the flora
and fauna in this park. The fauna includes, the Snow Leopard, Himalayan
Black Bear, Barking Deer and Red Panda, etc.
FAMBONG LHO WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
About 20-km from Gangtok, in an area of
5,280 hectares just above Singtam - Dickchu road, upto the height of 7,000
ft, this sanctuary is the home of Himalayan Black Bear, Red Panda, Civet
Cat and many-many varieties of birds and butterflies.
MAENAM WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Just above Rabongla, in an area about 3,500 hectares, this is the home of
Red Panda, Leopard Cat, Civet Cat, Blood Pheasant, Black Eagles and other
animals.
SINGBA RHODODENDRON SANCTUARY
This park is the world of Rhododendrons in north sikkim near Yumthang in
an area of about 35 hectares. The fauna includes Blood Pheasants,
Patridges, Tiger, Civets, etc.
KYONGNOSLA ALPINE SANCTUARY
This park is situated in an area of about 400 hectares around Changu
Lake.
