When one's heart yearns for a cool respite, however brief,
one thinks longingly of cool breezes, picturesque locales, the golden
palms and a quiet place where one can make escape to, then look no futher!
Come to the Yercaud Lak
e,
a pictorial pool surrounded by gardens and well-wooded areas. Boating in
the cold waters of the lake is a most pleasant experience.
In the centre of the lake is an island that is covered by an over bridge
to the mainland. The island is home to a couple of deer and peacocks. One
could go around the fenced island if one doesn't mind getting scratched by
some bushes and getting one's leg into a little dirt.
There is a beautiful garden called "The Anna Park" near the
lake. The garden is well groomed and best seen during the month of May,
when the Summer Festival is organised and the funds are rolling in for the
local authorities. At other times as well, it is worth a visit.
Boating Facilities At The Lake
One can avail of the boating facilities available at the lake. Boats come
in two options. Paddling ones for a couple or four and the other type
where there is a guy rowing it for you as you relax. Boating in the cold
water of the lake is enhancing as well as refreshing.
An old cinema theatre is housed just near the lake; if one is bored
perhaps one could hop in for a movie!

Rail: The nearest railway stations are Salem
Junction (36-km) and Salem Town (33-km).
Road: Bus services operate from Salem Junction and Salem bus
stands to Yercaud frequently.
