The Wallajah Mosque referred to as the "Big Mosque"
was built by the Wallajah family in 1795 in memory of the Nawab. The
present Prince of Arcot is closely associated with this shrine even today.
Hidden behind the modern buildings on Triplicane High Road, this renowned
place of worship for Muslims is a marvellous granite structure. The mosque
was built of grey granite rather than wood or steel.
