India's greatest museums - the Government Museum and the National Art

statues and The National Art Gallery houses innumerable ancient and modern
pieces of art. Apart from these museums, The Vimonisha Art and Commercial
Gallery, Vinyasa Art Gallery and The Easel - Art Gallery have become the
central place for art lovers in Chennai. Thanjavur Art Gallery displays
the finest examples of art belonging to Chola, Nayak and Pallava
dynasties. Silappathikara Art Gallery in Poompuhar is a beautiful
seven-tiered building of great sculptural value. The government museums at
Ooty,
Pudukkottai, Vellore
and Salem are quite famous and visited by
tourists from all over the state.
