The Easel, one of
Chennai's leading
art galleries came into being in November 1994, the brainchild of Sharmila
Mohandas, an artist herself. The Easel was born to fulfill the artist's
need for a quality exhibition centre.
The Easel
The highlight of The Easel is its aesthetic and spacious interiors (2000
sq ft). The interiors have a skirting of teak, with teak racks to hang the
paintings and arched windows framed in teak. The pillars are designed so
as to not to obstruct viewing and yet enhance ambience.
The Easel displays a variety of abstract and contemporary Art.
Exhibitions are held here at least twice a month, with each exhibition
lasting ten days. This gallery exhibited India's most famous artist
M.F.Husain's Madhuri Dixit Series and art director Thotatharani's
Scriptures. Leading artists like Achuthan Kudallur, R.M.Palaniappan have
also exhibited their works here.

flights connect Chennai with the major cities within the country and also
with countries like USA, Singapore, U.K etc.

beyond the state.

major towns and cities within the country. For local transportation local
trains, city buses, auto rickshaws and taxis are available.
