Constructed in 1839 under the supervision of Lieutanant Sharp and architect Major Smith, this is the first church of Allahabad. It is a fine composition, based on Gibbs prototype of St.Martin-in-fields, London with interesting tablets from the Gwalior campaign of 1843 and the 1857 mutiny. The church was consecrated by Bishop David Wilson, the fifth Bishop of Calcutta , on 19th February, 1841 and named the Holy Trinity Church.
